'Spice Market' Exhibited @ Nola Millar Library.

'The Spice Market' drawing is now on exhibit at the Nola Millar Library.

This year I have worked closely with the library in developing my Art. The resource and the staff have been integral to building my process. It is a pleasure to now share this drawing with them.  I hope the visitors to the space will enjoy the work also.

This is the first in a planned series of studio drawings.  I am openly seeking exhibition space in Wellington to present this work.  In the future I am eager to integrate drawings into the exhibition space itself.  Therefore finding spaces to work with rather than simply exhibit within will be key to the work I create.

The question of exhibition space is one I have seeded with the staff of the Nola Millar and I look forward to the conversations and work that grows from here.

Oh and here's what the description reads...

Spice Market
Pen and Ink on Archival paper

Drawn by Brendan Heffernan August 2013

A drawing is a series of risks, mistakes and corrections. Each line is drawn in relation to the other to create composition. I explore as little in pencil as possible and discover the drawing within the permanence of ink.  The stakes are higher and the result alive.

'The Marbury Lens' - Art

On 'The Warriors Way' I worked with VFX producing team Arnon Manor and Jason Piccioni. They've been developing a screen project from Andrew Smiths 'The Marbury Lens'.  Here's a sneak peak at some of the art I produced.  Just a little bit dark and twisted. Enjoy! :)

Monster sketch

Had another quick hunt through the old files and came across this monster sketch. Good fun...lots of teeth:).

100 posts - Where to next?

This is the 100th post on this blog.

There's been a good few weeks of pause between the last and this.  In this time I looked back at my writing and was both excited and disappointed. Somewhere along the line the writing shifted from my intention of revealing my process, ideas and voice to me sounding like an expert and teacher.  It all sounded a bit preachy.  I agree with all I've said but not as a manifesto of my process rather as a discussion of process. Process allows for such thinking to be alive, questioned, challenged and ever evolving.

This blog is extremely helpful with connecting with other artists.  Therefore I will continue to up date it but with a new focus. I will use the blog to reveal Works in Progress. My intention is to use this platform to share my 'Doing' rather than a focus on my 'Thinking'.  (I imagine a little thinking will slip in every now and then). I've done enough talking for the time being. It's time to let the work do the talking.

I've started a piece of work yesterday.  It's a large sketch, 1200mm x 800mm. No digital with this one. all pencil and ink on Archival paper. Bit of a test but keen to see if it can take my work into a territory I can exhibit.
